By definition, continuation is the act of carrying on. In this series of portraits, I use the word as a noun to explore the transitional time period after a point of immense change. Why do we persevere through the massive upheavals we endure over the course of a lifetime? Where will our path ultimately take us? What stops us from becoming stagnant in the face of uncertainty?
The Rainbow is the ultimate symbol of transformation. It begins to form during the darkest of times and acts as a beacon, guiding us back to the path we are meant to follow. There are times in life when we are left grasping in the dark, not sure where our journey is leading us. By remembering that there is always a rainbow to guide us in these moments, we welcome these changes. We continue on with renewed faith in ourselves.
Change cannot be forced. It must come from within. The women in my Continuation series are illuminated with kaleidoscopic hues, showing that they have found the beacon on their journey and have continued on through the darkness and emerged into clarity of self.
