The Other People |
Today, I would love to speak about my second work from the Delivered collection, “The Other People.”
The Other People goes beyond the painting of a woman with a horse in the middle of the dark cacti forest. This surrealistic yet realistic artwork made me want to be far away from people who are a “thing.” You know, the people whose belief is “I am better than others.” Do you have people like that in your life? I am curious how they make you feel. They make me want to escape from them in a second. And I get it sometimes; you can’t always do it in real life, yet you can in your mind.
While working on this painting, I wanted to get lost in the serene scenery with so much to tell. I needed a surrealism intertwined with realism. The change from one world to another was so real. I needed an escape to an unheard and unseen world to thrive. I am talking about these worlds of the possessive human ego we all have. I painted this painting entirely out of intuition, with the intention of a woman looking right back at you, reminding you to be careful how you treat one another. The painting itself wanted to circle into surrealism, which celebrates the boundless possibilities of human imagination. While in this surreal world, I could delve into my subconscious mind to explore hidden emotions, desires, and fears, which I found to be a powerful tool for my inspiration and creativity.
I wanted to reject the idea that art should replicate reality. Instead, I encouraged myself to create work that provokes thought, disrupts established norms, and challenges you as an observer to think differently.
The white horse in the painting represents a new period of transformation or change in one's life, signifying the start of a new chapter. A woman in a long red dress has a right to express her emotions, whether she feels passionate, joyful, or even angry. Green open umbrella creates a personal space that separates her from others. It symbolizes the need for personal boundaries and privacy.
I never thought I would say this, but surrealism became essential to me in this art collection. It offered me a space for creative freedom, introspection, and exploring complex themes.
Surrealism is like daydreaming. Daydreaming is a natural mental activity that lets your mind wander and creates scenarios or thoughts unrelated to your immediate surroundings or tasks.
